Angus Beef

We started researching the type of beef we wanted to raise in the spring of 2017.

It looked like Angus beef was the choice of ranchers in the Prineville area.

Angus is a  Scottish breed of cattle called Aberdeen Angus; they  thrive in cold climates, and so they develop more muscular bodies. Nicknamed ‘doddies’- as they were ‘dodded’ or without horns. Being without horns is advantageous for producers, who do not have to dehorn the cattle.

Angus are medium-sized, muscular animals, and are mostly red or black in color.

All of our Angus beef are grass fed by grazing in our pastures or in the winter fed hay we grow on the farm.

Angus are known for their high level of marbling in the meat. Marbling keeps the meat moist for longer when cooking; and where there is marbling, there’s tender, juicy and flavorful beef.

We sell our beef either whole, half or in quarters. We are also licensed to sell our USDA inspected meat right here on the farm in 1 pound packages of hamburger.
